The Winery

Cooper Vineyards is done in a Mediterranean style, with a very inviting patio that wraps around the front and side of the facility. The views of the local vineyards, and relaxing atmosphere, make this a great spot to take in the Shenandoah Valley atmosphere.

The Vineyards

The Coopers started as vineyard owners who sold their grapes to many popular and well known local wineries, before deciding to use a portion to produce their own wines. On their 90 acre estate they grow Primitivo, the locally rare Alicante Bouschet, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre, Petit Sirah, Roussanne, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Syrah and Viognier.

The Wines

Although new to the winemaking business, the winery’s ability to produce great Rhone and Italian style wines is quite evident from the awards they have won in their few short years as a winery. Known for big and bold reds, they also produce a couple of very nice white wines.

The Winemaker

The Coopers produce their wines with help from winemaker Michael Roser. Mr. Roser trained with locally famous Rich Gilpin of Lavender Ridge in Calaveras County.
