The Winery

Broll Mountain Winery is located on Pennsylvania Gulch Road outside of Murphys, but the tasting room is located downtown. The estate is on 25 acres and done in the style of a Tuscan villa complete with 200 olive trees. In addition to wine, the estate makes its own olive oil and sells it in the tasting room. The tasting facility is done in rich woods and beautiful stone work, and is surrounded by attractive, well manicured grounds.

The Vineyards

The estate vineyards cover 12 acres and consist of Merlot, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Roussanne. The vineyards are kept at a low yield in order to produce grapes with complexity and intense flavor.

The Wines

The wines are all produced from estate grown grapes and are estate bottled and aged 18 months in oak barrels. The winery specializes in Rhone and Bordeaux varietal wines.

The Winemaker

The winemaker at Broll Mountain is Mark Kunz, who has worked previously for such wineries as Piper Sonoma, Matanzas Creek, Pellegrini, and B.R. Cohn. Mr. Kunz is also the winemaker at Calaveras winery Chatom Vineyards.
