The Winery

Located a few miles east of Mariposa at the 3000 ft elevation. This high elevation allows the estate to take full advantage of the cool evening influences from the high Sierras directly east. The tasting room is in a barn style building with a wide verandah complete with a picnic tables and chairs to relax in the middle of a hard day of tasting.

The Vineyards

The original 2½ acres of vineyards were planted in 1984. Varietals that are currently in production are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Syrah. Purchased from other local vineyards are Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Wines

Silver Fox specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a smooth but bold, fruit forward wine with great fruit and spice. The winery ages their wines 16 to 18 months in French and American oak.

The Winemaker

The winery and vineyards are operated by owners Marvin and Karen Silver, and Tanya and Davis Zastrow. Marvin Silver also takes on the winemakers duties.
